We started off going to Stirling Castle this morning. The castle is perched on top of a rocky outcrop and is very easily defended - or so it would seem.
We were all treated like royalty in the throne room:
From Stirling Castle we went in search of various possible places where William Smith Muir could have been christened. The most likely seems to be the kirk in Clackmannan. There is a large graveyard with the church and some names that could be related (Mannion Muir?):
From there, we drove out to Loch Lomond and saw the boats in a small harbor there and enjoyed an ice cream treat:
We then headed back to Stirling to look at the church of the Holy Rude and Cowane's hospital (at least the chapel of the hospital):
It was a glorious day and very nice weather.
Good night!
