On to Preston (by way of Stonehenge)

We left Fareham early this morning on the way to Stonhenge

Of course, Isaac has an opinion (shared by millions) as to the actual group who set up Stonehenge:
We had a very nice drive from Stonehenge through a ton of little tiny villages with thatched roof cottages:

But eventually, we got to the M5 and M6 motorways headed west and north to Preston.  Just like on Monday, there were tons of basically unexplainable traffic slowdowns and congestion:
These turned an already long 4-hour drive into more than 6 and a half hours - which is no way to be spending our precious time here in England - even though we did go through some very beautiful countryside.

Now to bed.

  1. Glad to hear you had a good time with the family, but sorry about the traffic jams. I realize now that was our trade-off when we went -- we were there early enough in the summer that the roads weren't busy and we paid for it with endless rain. I hope it will be smoother in Scotland.
